What else but caramel popcorn?

Well after my big week with the wedding work I am sad to say I have NO CHOCOLATE IN THE HOUSE! So I figured I would try my hand at treats that can be eaten with or without chocolate. So caramel popcorn it is …..

I was quite surprised how easy it was. However the hardest part was putting it in the oven and having to wait an hour!  This is the first batch, although I plan to update it as the trials go on. Maybe adding chopped pecans, or macadamias and drizzle it with of course…CHOCOLATE! For those creative ones out there do you have any suggestions on what I could add to my popcorn to make it incredible?…Let me know and I will try some and document the end results. But for now:

First batch of Caramel Popcorn

First batch of Caramel Popcorn

The result was nice but I feel there is so much more potential for incredible popcorn. So again send me suggestions for things to add and I will try them out! My next batch Im trying will be Jacques Torres Chocolate Caramel Popcorn!

Posting Internationally.

Well this is my current dilemma. I fear I have my name on some Australian customs alert list. Let me explain in detail.

Earlier this year I had my mothers birthday coming up and decided to make her some of my treats instead of buying a store bought gift. Personal gifts carry so much meaning to me. So I embarked on developing a Gingerbread Pancake Mix that I could also sell one day in my store! With several trials I made a version I was very happy with, and so were Luke and the kids. I also made a package of my Signature Hot Cocoa Mix.

Adoring a well presented gift I packaged them up with home designed labels. I wanted to make them look as authentic as possible. Little did I know that this would bring me undone! I had included the ingredients on the back of the labels. Who would have known that Australian customs consider cloves to be a disease carrying spice and therefore a danger of some sort?

Yes , I said CLOVES! There was only 1/8th of a teaspoon in the entire parcel! Well the most disappointing thing was they decided to confiscate the whole lot, they probably sat down to pancakes and hot cocoa in their lunch break…well I hope they enjoyed it! Because my gorgeous mother recieved NOTHING from me.

The thing is…now it seems that everything I send in the mail to Australia, any candy/lollies even store bought gets opened and checked by customs. So now you can see why I am suspicious about the list! Or maybe I should fantisise that they open them up just because they enjoyed the pancakes and hot cocoa so much..they are having withdrawals! ….Oh I can dream .. can’t I?
